A yogic lifestyle emphasizes the balance of body and mind, offering practices that enhance our well-being on every level—physical, mental, and spiritual.
This 10-week course provides a practical introduction to the fundamentals of living a Yogic life, guiding us in spiritualizing various aspects of our lives, with meditation as a central practice. The class is a combination of gentle yoga, guided practices, lecture, and discussion offering an opportunity to directly experience the transforming power of the ancient teachings of Yoga.
Drawing on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, here are some topics we will delve into:
Intro to Yoga Philosophy: Understanding the history, purpose, and application of Yoga in daily life
Meditation: Learning a foundational technique and building a regular practice
Yoga postures: Exploring the spiritual significance of yoga, and unifying body and mind
Breathwork: Practices to calm ourselves and destress at will
Healthy Living: Right diet & nutrition, exercise, sleep
Working with Energy: Developing awareness and mastery of our energy
The Power of Mind: Using positive psychology and affirmations
Spiritualizing Relationships: Fostering harmony and happiness in all relationships
The Law of Karma: Seeing life circumstances as opportunities to grow and expand
Devotional Chanting: The practice of chanting to open the heart

7pm Gentle yoga
7:30pm Pranayam, chanting and guided meditation
8pm Lecture, discussion, group sharing and Q&A
Students who have completed the Raja yoga course are welcome to audit the class free of cost. Contact one of our staff to register as an auditor.
