This is the story of a mix-race boy in Lima, Peru, whose great charity brings about amazing cures and miracles.
In the sixteenth century, the Spanish conquered the Incas, enslaving them and others to work the silver and gold mines. Into this dark world of pain and suffering was born a beacon of light: Martin de Porres. Defying the expectations of family, authority and society, Martin offered healing and education to the poor and sick of his time. His life is a glimpse of how to become a saint, and how individuals can bring light into darkness — through service and great love.
Each year, Living Wisdom School presents a play based on the life of a spiritually great man or woman. Past years’ plays: Dalai Lama, Buddha, St. Francis, Jesus, Lincoln, and Martin Luther King. Every student, from kindergarten through 8th grade, is involved. This is a full-scale production, far exceeding in quality and complexity anything you would expect in a school play. There are three performances from which to choose. Come early, as seats fill VERY quickly. It’s easier to find seats during the daytime performance.
Free for teachers and their classes on March 14.
Teachers, please call to reserve a place for your students: 650.462.8150
