This year, kirtan will be indoors, in the Temple (not at the Community)
The ancient Indian festival of Navaratri is a nine-day worship of the Divine Mother in her various aspects, celebrated all across India. October 12th is the final day of this celebration this year - the day of Her victory over darkness. We are honored to have with us on this day Acharya Mangalananda and his kirtan band.
The evening’s kirtan will all be invocations and praise of the Mother of the Universe, sharing in Her victorious power and love.
Mangalananda will be supported by his professional six piece kirtan band. Come and chant the Divine Names in joy.
Mangalananda has shared kirtan with the Ananda Community many times over the years not only in Palo Alto, but also in Assisis Italy, Portland and Seattle. He is a direct disciple of the great Indian mystic saint, Anandamayi Ma, whom Yogananda met in 1936 and described in detail in his Autobiography of a Yogi.
