On this holy day of Swami Yukeswar Giri's Mahasamadhi, we remember the great Yogi through stories from his life and the essence of his book "The Holy Science."
This webinar is the first class of an ongoing bi-monthly series on "The Holy Science."
In the year 1894, on the sacred occasion of Kumbha Mela in Allahabad, the forty-year-old Priyanath Karar was entrusted with the mission of writing a book that would show the essential unity of the religions of the east and the west, and the one common universal highway of spiritual evolution. This was a request made by the great Mahavatar Babaji himself.
Priyanath completed the task and published his first written work, "Kaivalya Darshanam" (literally, "An exposition of the ultimate goal") in Bengali. This work was translated into English as "The Holy Science" and published by Yogananda in 1949.
The extraordinary depth in this small volume is not easy to grasp for the average reader. Yet, as any true scripture, it has the quality of opening new windows to see a central truth by it's mere vibration.
We will discuss and study this book both as a way to tune into the essence of who Swami Yukteswar Giri was and appreciate the seminal thought of Babaji that later took the form of Yogananda's mission to the West.
