Outdoors at the Ananda Community
One of the most sacred events of the year. As we move around the community courtyard from one shrine to another, Asha shares stories and lessons from the lives of each of the gurus in Yogananda’s lineage. This magical evening includes chanting, meditation and a candlelight offering.
Guru is Sanskrit: “to lead out of darkness.” India has had a long tradition of passing spiritual truths from teacher to student, from guru to disciple.
Learn about Paramhansa Yogananda, one of the best-known spiritual teachers of the past century, as well as his own lineage of teachers: Swami Yukteswar, Lahiri Mahasaya, Babaji, and Jesus Christ.
If you have read Autobiography of a Yogi and thrilled to the stories of these saints’ lives, you will have the opportunity to feel their presence and spirit. It’s like being on a mini-pilgrimage without the long flight to India.
Guided by Asha Nayaswami
Chairs are provided, or you can bring your own meditation seating. Bring a blanket and dress in layers, in case the evening becomes cool.
Park in any uncovered spot in the community or on Monroe Drive.
