Tonight is our annual kirtan in honor of Lord Shiva, symbolic of the destructive force in creation, sometimes feared, but also needed to clear away the old and make room for new beginnings. Shivaratri is the night when Shiva is said to have performed the dance of primordial creation, preservation, and destruction.
